Fans of classical music should mark the calendar for the Classical Music Summer (Estate Musicale) in Portoguraro. It takes place every year from July to September.
In addition to harmonious sounds in a Mediterranean atmosphere remarkable new talents are to discover. 2005 (under the slogan "Vienna") Rusalina Genova Mochukowa (soprano) shone with arias from Don Giovanni and Figaro. (which is a nice coincidence as Mozart's librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, went to priest school at the collegio which is the very building depicted above).
A highlight unusual nature in 2005 was Haydn's fireworks music, discreetly emphasized with real pyrotechnics, so that even the younger visitors paid respect thunderstruckedly.
Overall, a unique and diverse festival, whose visit you should not only mark crossed in your calendar. Go there and enjoy, really! The ticket prices range depending on the category from 8 to 20 €, subscriptions are possible (~ 60 €).
