After a leisurely stroll through the picturesque old town good food is needed. So head towards Ristorante Al Cavallino (easy to find by the Porta San Agnese, any local can point you in the direction).
Here you can enjoy a rustic, cozy Italian atmosphere including all what the local cuisine has to offer. (We recommend at this point a Tagliata con rucola e Grana, ie a well-seared beef with ruccola and parmegiano. Honestly, there are in fact guests who order this dish since 6 years).
This does not mean that there are not other foods recommended. Especially delicious is the homemade Petto d'anitra, duck breast with a salsa of Balsamico, or Cape lunghe (available in all months that do have an "r" in the month's name).
Anyway, you will not be disappointed - just as the locals like to come here. And do not forget to greet Franco, the host, of meineAdria.com.
Wait, there's more: Taste some of the delicious dolci, Mama's original homemade desserts!
Trattoria AL CAVALLINO
(Although called Trattoria, for us it earns the rank of a restaurant)
• Borgo S. Agnese, 6
• 30026 Portogruaro (VE)
• Tel/Fax +39 0421-73096
• Closed on Tuesday
How to find: Ask a local for the Porta Sant Agnese. Find it 10 meters in front of it. Even otherwise, it is not hard to find: The center of Portogruaro has only two entrances. Locate the entrance to the large gate. And you're there.
