Who has not heard of the Arsenal, where the Serenissima had built its trade and warships? 1570 in only two months 100 galleys were built and equipped here. The Naval Museum at the Rio dell'Arsenale the maritime history of Venice is presented in an old warehouse. It emerged from the Casa dei Modelli in which the Venetian government kept their boats. Inspired by the Austrian Admiralty then there was the Naval History Museum established.
By the way: Not far from here is even an entire submarine.
In the museum you can admire navigational instruments, scale models of the different types of ships, uniforms, models of fortresses which Venice possessed around the Mediterranean, more than 25,000 exhibits offer visitors a comprehensive summary of the history of Venetian and Italian seafaring.
